Out with the old (interior) in with the new...
One thing I didn't like about the Camaro was it's interior. Apart from the crumbling plastics I can't say I'm too keen on the colour and there's far too much of it. Started on it last winter...
They came out pretty easily, thankfully enough. Driver's side needed a little brute force to release the bar from it's clip on the floor pan. Blue lap belts in accordance with the original interior colour of dark blue.
Sail and quarter trim panels removed, pretty brittle and crusty

Re: Out with the old (interior) in with the new...
I've found all sorts of knick-knacks, lost by previous owners while digging out the interior.
Many coins have surfaced, mostly from our country but this one wasn't. Way back from 1967!
Found the original factory build sheet too, located between the foam and springs of the passenger seat. Unfortunately this relic has seen better days Although it corresponds with the VIN, a proper Z28 from Van Nuys of late '81

Took note of the importance of the prep work. Thoroughly scrubbed with plastikleen and prepped with plasticprep. Very pleased with the end result, the visors have turned out very well. A really nice texture and layering from the Liquid Plastic means the visors look like they original factory parts!
From the horrible Carmine Red to a darker shade of black

The interior was originally dark blue. I love the exterior styling of the classics but the interiors just aren't that inviting. I guess subtly and correct colour usage wasn't understood back then. The colours themselves are pleasant enough, but a whole interior in one of those colours is overwhelming. Aside from black or dark grey an interior in red, blue, green, tan etc. looks gordy and over the top

Re: Out with the old (interior) in with the new...
The remedy to the worn and aged dash came in the form of a dash cap. I wasn't confident to remove the whole dash so a cheaper option was chosen to a new dash pad...
...however, it was necessary to paint certain areas where the dash pad failed to butt up against. Notice there's a slight lip on the moulding of the cap, thankfully it wasn't that noticeable when the areas were painted but if I had to do it again I'd say a new dash pad is the better option. Painted the steering column satin black at the time as well.

Thanks , admittedly it's simple stuff. I was tempted by SEM but Bradley's products appear to be a good alternative, and I didn't have to wait for the next container from Ron.

Purple ain't for everyone but it does suit the street machine look. Once the interior is finished, in fact the whole car with the proper Z28 graphics (shades of purple of course) it'll work. I wanted a colour that was a stark contrast but something custom that isn't seen a great deal. Red, orange, green, blue, we see a lot of them but purple isn't seen as much.
