Pontiac Firebird in having a look at tomorrow
My partner and I are off to have a look at a Pontiac Firebird 1980 4.9 litres V6 engine tomorrow!
It's a private sale for asking price of £7500 and it's apparently in very good condition.
06:00 start for us both for the journey to Nottingham for 08:00! I'll keep you lot informed if we buy it!

Partner quite fancies this mustang and bonus is it's very local to us
Not too keen on the way the back lights are covered though but it's right price wise.

the 4.9 will be a v8 and if its orange with gold wheels don't buy it unless you have test driven it for a long time i had a experience on the m6 with a 4.9 that cooked ! the engine practically seized and i kept it going until it stopped virtually to get to the next pull in. it went back on a rac truck and got money back !!

Re: Pontiac Firebird in having a look at tomorrow
Just stopped for a quick coffee and a sub outside of Nottingham. An hour to kill before we get to see the firebird.
We will bear it in mind thirdgen - it's not gold though it is white. Owner confirmed for second time it's a 4.9 V6 so could we possibly have someone who doesn't know the car they own well enough!?
I'm a freak for V8 sounds so I'll know straight away if it is a V8 when he fires it up for us. If it was up to me only I would be going for a V8 100% but we will go for a rust free body and chassis firstly.
Owner says it's all mint and clean but time will tell

Re: Pontiac Firebird in having a look at tomorrow
It was not quite right :-(
Engine was a V6 and not a V8 but not 4.9 litres it turned out to be a 3 litre something when we googled the dashboard vin code and had a search through some web sites. It's didn't drive nice at all. Body and chassis looked like it had lots of patches and poor welding like fried egg splatter everywhere and painted over. Smelled of urine and cigarettes inside.
Will have a look at another one soon

VIN 2S87AAL112675
The top of the body paintwork was mint as he said it was and the interior was plush red but just smelt very bad.

Re: Pontiac Firebird in having a look at tomorrow
hello gay boy brummy the car you looked at in Nottingham was the owners name ian . it turns out that the guy bum we talk about is selling is trans am. now it makes sense that why the car smells of smoke and piss surprised it did not smell of shit as well if this was the car you looked at . he also had a lot of work and welding done to it . think it was a 4.9 but he had a 6.6 fitted

Re: Pontiac Firebird in having a look at tomorrow
Hello Kev,
No it was not a man called ian he was called simon. It was most definitely a V6 as I counted 6 plugs under the bonnet and it sounded like one. It was a white car with a red clothy interior and i think the urine smell was probably just a dampness mixed with the cigarette smell. there was plenty of welds underneath the body from what I could see and not even painted. It was a splatter Fest under there and looked recently done. Every foot well area panel had a patch and the panel which runs behind the bumper at the back was covered in patches. The long beam of metal on either side running from the front to halfway down the car underneath - i think it's called the chassis sub frame was patched as well with bare metal patches and welding. It was a shame because on top it looked good but even I know that having a good top of the body is no good if the bottom is rusting out everywhere. Then the V6 just felt like My first car which was a 1.2 litre Corsa. It had no go

Re: Pontiac Firebird in having a look at tomorrow
Nice looking car but to be honest I think that new one you have in the other post looks better cos the styling of those mark three ones is way way better!
Nobody in that photo I recognise and this Simon we met was about 70 and quite a bit larger than anybody there.
We are now trying to get booked in to go and see the mustang I posted about with the weird light covers. Owner says they can be took off though so bonus
