Paint !!!!!

Ok ...bought a rattle can using the paint code on the rpo...did the repair on the arch,come out extremely well however after grey primer and the the top coat it appears to be slightly darker than original.....now is this just because of 27 year old paint fade or am I missing something.....should I of used a silver or white base coat ?????

Probably would have been better off going to a paint shop and they might have been able to get a closer match to your current colour

Might have to do that....it is very very close though.....wasnt sure if there should be a lighter base

I know some spray companies do put different coloured base coats to help lighten the after colour or make it stand out more

I am not up on spraying but dad or Kev might know

silver is probably the hardest colour to blow in . also different makes of lacquers will alter the colour

especially using rattle cans
paint dose vary , fading over time and shade variations with original paint and new paint mixtures
a lot of bodyshops mix their own paint to get the right match (fulford motorsport who did my bonnet started with oe colour then lightened it slightly to get perfect match)
also with metalics you need to keep paint well mixed to keep the particles in suspension or the tend to settle out. also if you don't keep spraying angle the same then it will come out different shades. got to keep it a 90 degrees

Just checked the code on the ticket in the arm rest and someone has written another code in pencil above it.....so it could be that mines been repainted at some stage ?????
ItsA a GM code number from 92 onwards.....possible I suppose.Anyway thanks for all the advise apart from Paul and his stickers...lol

Dont be a cheap o and get it done properly you tight git rocky could have done that when doing the rust ....
