I have KYB gas a justs on my 80,ride is really harsh,i was told it was down to the shocks,maybe those might not be as bad.My car is pretty horrible to ride in though.

probably best to go on rockauto catalogue http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php
select shocks and pick from original ride quality (gabrial or Monroe are good, and cheap, less than £30 pair)
then select struts (front) and again go for original ride quality and same makes (only just over £30 pair)
even with shipping works out cheap, especialy if you get some other parts at same time
