My Lincoln

Post by Bandit on Thu Apr 14, 2016 8:54 pm

Looks like i will be keeping my Lincoln. The guy who owns the Pontiac that's been stood untouched in storage for about 8 years reckons the car is still worth £28,000,he obviously doesn't realise how much work it will need to put back on road.Plus being RHD will put a lot of people off.
So started sanding the Lincoln down, took almost a full day to do boot lid, probably take a week for the bonnet, lol.Forgot to take pics so will take some tomorrow.
Not sure on colour yet but thinking black.

Never really been keen on white cars, except Trans Am pace cars Cool I do like black cars, when i first bought a yank car i joined a club and there was a old guy that had a black mk iv with a white vinyl roof and one with a brown one with a off white vinyl roof, they are what made me always want a mk iv.
White would be easiest because i wouldn't need to do door shuts, brown would be next best as my interior is brown and white, but black is my first choice.

Other than white, brown would probably be best choice as interior is brown and white.I like metallic blue but interior wouldn't suit it,was thinking same thing with black but i will probably go with black and white vinyl roof,or off white.

Still not got very far with it,it's taking forever as i have to get the whole of the top coat off as when i sand the bubbles down it leaves tiny holes,so i am now down to original paint.Bought some paint stripper now, hopefully will be quicker.
Got rust in lower quarter but it is solid, not got time to cut it out so will paint over it with hammerite or similar,a chrome trim covers it.

With the white roof metallic blue would look the best your doing a full paint job why not look into changing the brown bits of the interior

Not touching the interior, didn't want to paint it but the bubbles were annoying. Was just supposed to be my daily driver while i work on the Trans Am.

That's something i need to look in to with changing the vinyl. All the vids i have watched of vinyl fitting the cars had painted roofs,i am assuming it helps protect the metal as i think the vinyl would be porous so rain would soak through and cause the roof to rust. Not sure if that is the case or not but might be better painting roof anyway,if i can reach, lol. Can't reach middle when i wash it.
